Background
Don Craven worked for Robert Thompson during the mid 20th century he left Thompsons and set up on his own his work is sometimes confused with the work of the later craftsman Malcolm Pipes whose trademark signature is a Fox’s head which is normally incised.

These pieces date from an earlier period and have the Craven trademark of large seated Fox signature in relief Craven ceased trading in 1976. He worked with a small group of ex Thompson craftsmen which included Bob Hunter the Wren man at the Alborough Crafts Borough Bridge.
